You are all true friends of Azov, our reliable support. “Azov” will never forget what you did for us in difficult times. We will justify the responsibility entrusted to us, and with our discipline, steadfastness and courage in battle we will prove the effectiveness of this decision. The colossal combat experience that Azov’s soldiers, sergeants and officers have, combined with modern American weapons, will become a deadly weapon for the enemies of Ukraine,” Prokopenko said.
Last week it became known that the United States lifted the ban on the supply of weapons to Azov.
After a thorough examination, the 12th Azov Special Forces Brigade passed the Leahy inspection conducted by the US State Department.
The Leahy Act prohibits U.S. military assistance to foreign units known to have committed serious human rights violations.
The State Department found “no evidence” of such violations, the statement said.
Azov believes that lifting the ban will make the unit more powerful, professional and even more dangerous for the occupiers. The lies about Azov that the Kremlin regime has been spreading in the West for years have suffered a crushing blow.
Receiving Western weapons and training from the United States will not only increase Azov’s combat effectiveness, but, most importantly, will help preserve the lives and health of the brigade’s personnel, the fighters noted.
A State Department spokesman declined to say when the ban was lifted or whether American weapons had already arrived in Azov.
