The Russian proposal is not a proposal for peace, it means more aggression and more conquest, NATO Secretary General said.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s demands for Ukraine to vacate the territories of four Ukrainian regions in exchange for a cease-fire and the initiation of a cease-fire are meaningless related to peaceful intentions. He said this on June 14 in Brussels at the last press conference after the completion of the two-day meeting of the defense ministers of the Alliance, reports Ukrinform.
“It is not Ukraine that should withdraw its forces from Ukrainian territory. It is Russia’s business to withdraw its troops from occupied Ukrainian lands. Such a proposal really means that Russia wants the right to occupy more Ukrainian lands in Ukrainian regions it considers non-Ukrainian.” . This shows that it was not an offer made in good faith. This proposal means that Russia must achieve its military goals and expect Ukraine to give up more land than Russia currently occupies,” Stoltenberg said.
According to him, in any condition, such a Russian proposal is not a peace proposal, but it means more aggression and more conquest. It shows that Russia’s goal is to gain control of Ukraine, and that has been Russia’s goal since the beginning of this war.
“Such a gross violation of international law is the reason why NATO continues to support Ukraine,” the NATO Secretary General said.
Let’s remember that Putin said that the Russian Federation is ready to negotiate an end to the war if Ukrainian troops are completely withdrawn from the Donetsk and Lugansk “people’s republics”, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
The Russian dictator also said that if Europe wants to remain one of the world’s independent centers of development, it needs to be well with Russia.
