The official hryvnia exchange rate strengthened after falling to a historic low against the dollar. This is confirmed by the data on the website of the National Bank on Friday, June 14.

The dollar exchange rate on Monday was set at UAH 40.6490 (-0.0418 UAH). In turn, the euro exchange rate was further strengthened – 43.4782 UAH (-0.4068 UAH).

On the interbank market, the American currency fell by 7 kopecks to 40.68-40.71 UAH/dollar (buying and selling) compared to the previous day’s close.

In the cash market, the dollar rose by 15 kopecks to UAH 41.10.

Earlier, the National Bank explained the reasons for the sharp increase in the dollar exchange rate in May. According to the regulator, demand for foreign currency jumped 41% last month.

And yesterday it became known that the NBU lowered the discount rate for the third time in a row. Such a step will contribute to a further revival of lending, which is important for economic recovery, assured the regulator.
