The first batches of ammunition are arriving in Ukraine these days, the Czech Foreign Ministry reported. So far, only five of the 20 countries have donated money for their purchase.
Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky said that ammunition purchased within the framework of the Czech initiative is already arriving in Ukraine. This year, Kyiv will continue to receive “huge amounts” of them. Lipavsky spoke about this on Friday, June 14, in an interview with Radio Liberty.
“The first batches of ammunition will arrive in Ukraine in a few days, therefore, this year we will be able to purchase and continue to provide a large amount of ammunition. Currently, through various channels, the Czech Republic supplied more than one million shells to Ukraine,” said the minister.
Lipavsky said that the Czech initiative helps to continue the supply of ammunition to the Ukrainian military. Already 20 countries have pledged to participate in this initiative, five of which have already sent money, with which the Czech Republic can enter into agreements and buy ammunition from different countries and then send it’s in Ukraine. These are Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Portugal, Canada.
Let’s recall that earlier the Czech government said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive from 50 to 100 thousand large caliber shells monthly. The first shells under the initiative will be delivered to Ukraine in June.
In April it was reported that the Czech Republic had discovered more than a million shells for Ukraine. We are mainly talking about 155 mm ammunition. At the beginning of May, the Czech Republic announced that they had raised money for 500 thousand shells for Ukraine.
