Microsoft’s vice president also warned about the direct link between state activities and cybercrime, especially between Russia and North Korea.
Russian cyber attacks are becoming more aggressive and harder to prevent. Sky News reports this in connection with information from Microsoft Vice President Brad Smith to the Homeland Security Committee of the US House of Representatives.
According to Smith, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) “continues to be one of the best-resourced and most sophisticated cyber agencies in the world.”
He noted that over the past year, Microsoft has seen SVR become “more aggressive.” Today, when experts identify Russia’s activities in the Internet environment, it does not leave it, but instead doubles down on its attacks.
Microsoft’s vice president also warned about the direct link between state activities and cybercrime, especially between Russia and North Korea.
“It is one thing to engage in cyber combat with four separate adversaries (Russia, China, North Korea and Iran – ed.), but a completely different scenario if two or all four of these countries act simultaneously,” said Smith.
Let’s recall that Russian hackers linked to the GRU attacked government agencies in Poland.
It was also reported that Estonian government agencies experienced the largest wave of DDoS attacks in the country’s history.
