In the Zhytomyr region, a resident of Korosten was exposed, and in the Dnieper, a 30-year-old local resident was detained.
The security service neutralized two bot farms operating in the Zhytomyr region and the Dnieper. The defendants helped Russian intelligence services hack the phones of Ukrainian defenders and spread Kremlin propaganda. The SBU reported this on June 12.
It was noted that in the Zhytomyr region, together with the National Police, the Security Service exposed a resident of Korosten, who, by order of the occupiers, massively registered virtual mobile numbers of Ukrainian operators and unknown telegram accounts. He sold or rented activated “accounts” through specialized Internet platforms of the Russian Federation.
Subsequently, Russian intelligence services used these numbers to hack the phones of Ukrainian military personnel. To do this, they sent phishing mails to the gadgets of Defense Forces soldiers from unknown numbers and Internet addresses registered in Ukraine.
When files containing malicious software are opened, a spyware virus is automatically downloaded to the phone and collects sensitive data. The enemy also used anonymous bot farm accounts to spread Kremlin narratives, purportedly on behalf of ordinary Ukrainian citizens.
According to the investigation, the defendant installed special software in his own apartment. The woman registered more than 600 mobile numbers, the money from the sale she received in her own crypto wallet. The woman was declared suspicious.
In addition, a 30-year-old local resident was detained in the Dnieper, who registered almost 15 thousand fictitious accounts on various social networks and instant messengers. To do this, he used SIM cards from Ukrainian mobile operators. He sold the created accounts on darknet forums, where his main buyers were representatives of the Russian intelligence services.
The attacker was accused of encroaching on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine.
Investigations into both facts are ongoing.
We remind you that the Security Service detained a deputy from the Khmelnitsky region, who worked for the Russian FSB and recruited his son and daughter.
It was also reported that a Russian agent who was correcting the enemy attack was detained in Kharkov.
