The border guards have still not received confirmation from the Polish side that the farmers have started blocking traffic.
On the morning of June 9, the Shegini-Medika checkpoint on the Polish border was operating as usual, although Polish farmers would block it. This was announced by the representative of the State Border Service of Ukraine (SBSU) Andrey Demchenko on Sunday in a commentary in Ukrainskaya Pravda.
“The direction of Shegini-Medika checkpoints is running as before, all categories of vehicles are crossing the border in both directions without any hindrance. he said.
Demchenko did not exclude that blocking traffic for cars will not happen today.
“Of course, I would like such actions not to happen, but it cannot be denied that they are postponed in this direction, because it was announced,” he added.
A day before it became known that Polish farmers may block the Shegini-Medika checkpoint until the end of September.
We remind you that on June 7, the Poles stopped the protest in front of the Grebenne-Rava-Ruska checkpoint, which has been blocked since June 4. They asked to reduce the import of grain crops to Poland from Ukraine .
As you know, Polish farmers have been blocking the checkpoint since February, protesting against the import of Ukrainian agricultural products, the extension of the economic visa-free regime in Ukraine for another year, as well as against the EU’s “green deal”. This protest ended on April 29.
