Open data analysis expert Julian Roepke analyzed the recording of the destruction in Ukraine of a Russian “turtle tank” based on the T-72, which exploded on a mine, but was not completely destroyed, but only lost its mobility. The crew and troops were able to safely leave the tank. However, as it turned out, the Russians themselves make the work of the Ukrainian Armed Forces easier. This is stated in the BILD article.
According to Repke, it is almost impossible to destroy such a “tank garage,” but when exiting the armored vehicle, the driver left a small hatch under the barrel open. It was there that the Ukrainian operators sent the UAV that exploded from within. If the hatch had been closed, the car would have survived.
The expert notes that such cases are not uncommon at the front. The destruction of Russian armored vehicles in this way occurs almost daily. Hundreds of tanks, armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles became victims of open hatches.
Repke assumes that Russian tank crews are escaping in panic from vehicles that have been hit by mines, so at the moment of escaping they no longer think about closing the hatch.
Let us recall that in May, soldiers of the 2nd battalion of the Rubezh brigade of the National Guard in the Liman direction destroyed a Russian “tank-barn” protected by metal structures on all sides.
