Now the Ukrainian Armed Forces are destroying as much as possible the Russian units threatening the Kharkov region, the president said.
The Russian invaders failed to realize their plan in the north of the Kharkov region. The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said this on Saturday, June 8, in a video message following a conversation with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky.
“I spoke today with the commander-in-chief about the situation in general. The significant result is that the Russian army failed to implement their Kharkov operation,” said the head of state.
According to Zelensky, “we stop them as much as possible and destroy the Russian units that enter our land and terrorize the Kharkov region.”
The head of state also said that the Kharkov direction has been strengthened.
“And it will be stronger,” he assured.
In addition, Zelensky listened to Syrsky’s report on the situation in the areas of the Donetsk region, where it is now the most difficult.
“We are working to provide more reserves to our army,” the president said.
We remind you that on May 10, Russian aggressors launched an offensive in the north of the Kharkov region. They captured about 10 villages, mostly deserted in the “gray zone,” and began to fight for the city of Volchansk.
As of June 8, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are in control of most of Volchanskaya, and according to media reports, Ukrainian troops have recently successfully counterattacked and liberated several city blocks.
