Demining specialists managed to reduce the area potentially contaminated by explosive objects by 18 thousand km. Currently it is 156 thousand km², that is, about 25% of the total area of the state.
In Ukraine, a state register of territories contaminated or likely to be contaminated by explosive substances will be created. The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine reported this today, June 7.
“The launch of the registry will automate and speed up some processes, thus, the farmers will receive extracts about the status of their lands: are they polluted or clean the condition of the agricultural land,” explained the Deputy Minister of Economy Igor Bezkaravainy.
He noted that information from the register will be important for investors and the implementation of projects to restore Ukraine.
It indicates that the register will be populated with information from various sources.
“The Center for Humanitarian Demining will put data here on the results of a non-technical land survey or the mine action operators whose territorial demining units will provide information on the survey and land clearance information on the survey of sites, due to contamination where the owners were given local tax incentives,” the department said.
The registry will also be able to include information on survey results using satellite images. Surveyed territory where explosive objects were not found or neutralized will not be included in the database.
We remind you that from May 10 to June 4, Russian troops dropped about 300 aerial bombs near Volchansk, Kharkov region.
