Joe Biden assured continued support for Ukraine, and also emphasized that since the decision of the US Congress, six funding packages have been announced, including a new one.
As part of the meeting between Biden and Zelensky in France, the Ukrainian president told the US leader about what is happening now on the front in Ukraine. White House Advisor John Kirby said this on Friday, June 7, Ukrinform reports.
“Zelensky shared with President Biden an honest assessment of what is happening in Ukraine, and also spoke about the pressure they continue to experience, especially in the east, in the Donbass,” Kirby said.
He added that the presidents spoke about non-public matters, the disclosure of which “could complicate the defense of Ukraine on the battlefield.”
The representative of the White House emphasized that the aid packages provided by the United States to Ukraine allowed the Ukrainian Armed Forces to gain some advantages and were able to hinder the advance of Russian troops, especially in the Kharkov area.
However, the official stressed, a major effort would still need to be made to push the Russians back.
“And Biden – as you heard publicly – he, of course, also did this privately and assured President Zelensky that they will continue to have our support,” he added.
Earlier, Joe Biden assured that Ukraine will always have the support of the United States. Now the world’s autocrats are watching to see if the world will put the brakes on this illegal Kremlin aggression. This cannot be allowed, said the US President.
