The Joe Biden administration is not confident that the Israeli army’s offensive in Rafah will lead to the complete destruction of Hamas.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will travel to the Middle East to promote a ceasefire plan in the Gaza Strip. The US State Department reported this on Friday, June 7.
It is indicated that this visit will take place next week and last for three days.
“Blinken will visit Israel and key US Arab partners – Egypt, Jordan and Qatar on June 10-12,” the statement said.
It is known that the United States intends to convince Hamas to accept the plan outlined a week ago by the American leader, Joe Biden. The plan calls for a cessation of hostilities for at least six months and the release of hostages.
Blinken’s trip is his eighth visit to the Middle East since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023.
The G7 countries supported the ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas, which was previously proposed by US President Joe Biden.
Let’s remember that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel agreed not to stop the war, but “only discuss its end.” According to him, Israel can suspend the war for 42 days to return the hostages.
It was previously reported that Israel has changed its plans for a military offensive in Rafah to ensure they meet the requirements and wishes of the United States.
