More than 300 law enforcement officers are combing the town of Debeln in Germany, where a small child has gone missing.
In Germany, in Saxony, in the city of Debeln, 9-year-old Ukrainian Valeria disappeared on her way to school. For several days there was no information about the girl’s whereabouts. The Saxony police and Radio Liberty reported this on Thursday, June 6.
Law enforcement officers checked the local Freiberger Mulde river. Rescuers and dogs are combing forests, fields and meadows, and a helicopter is searching for the child from the air.
The girl was last seen around 6:50 a.m. on June 3, Monday. He left home to catch the school bus, but was never seen at school. They didn’t sound the alarm because of her absence, so the girl’s mother noticed her daughter missing around 6:30 pm that same day.
“We learned about the girl’s disappearance around 6:30 pm. Since then, we have been doing everything to find her safe and sound. We are taking this matter very seriously,” police spokesman Andrzej Rydzik told BUILD.
Because the school did not immediately report the child’s absence, the State Attorney’s Office opened an investigation against the school.
It is known that Valeria’s family is from the Dnepropetrovsk region. His mother is a Ukrainian refugee who came to Germany in 2022 with her two minor children.
Law enforcement is asking anyone with information about the child’s possible whereabouts to contact them.
