In Poland, a border guard died after being stabbed near the village of Dubichi Church as migrants tried to exit Belarus.
The Polish government is demanding that Belarusian authorities identify the killer of the Polish border guard and hand him over to Warsaw as part of the investigation, which is already underway by the country’s Ministry of Justice. TVN24 reported this on Thursday, June 6.
“Since the crime occurred on the Polish side of the border, and is also related to the investigation carried out by the prosecutor’s office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs requests the identification and extradition of the suspect in the murder of a Polish citizen,” said Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski.
He emphasized that “when a person breaks through a state border fence with a knife, hits a Polish state functionary, a border guard, a soldier, this is not a refugee, but an ordinary bandit .”
It is indicated that the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Charge d’Affaires of Belarus Alexei Ponkratenko, where he was given a note of protest in which Poland resolutely demands an end to provocations on the Polish-Belarusian border and the organization of migration flows.
It is known that a Polish border guard suffered from the actions of illegal migrants on the border of Poland and Belarus.
It was previously reported that Poland plans to temporarily ban access to the border zone with Belarus.
Poland will strengthen its border with Russia and Belarus at a cost of €2.3 billion
