The purchase of fighter jets is in addition to an order for 38 aircraft, which is still being prepared.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced the acquisition of 20 more Eurofighter fighters as part of a program to strengthen the country’s armed forces. Bloomberg wrote this on Wednesday, June 5.
The German Chancellor said that the European and German defense sectors, which can provide sufficient quantities of weapons and ammunition, are more important than ever.
“I am strongly in favor of maintaining and expanding production capacity. That is why we will order 20 more Eurofighters during this legislative period,” Scholz said.
The purchase of fighter jets is in addition to an order for 38 aircraft, which is still being prepared. The cost of the aircraft will be 4 billion euros, including logistics and maintenance.
It was previously reported that the German army intends to order 200 thousand more artillery pieces from the arms manufacturer Rheinmetall than planned.
