The head of state discussed with his Filipino counterpart Ferdinand Marcos Jr. bilateral cooperation, the upcoming Global Peace Summit and Russian aggression against Ukraine. The Ukrainian leader announced this on the social network X.

I arrived in the Philippines and met with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for the first time in the history of our bilateral relations, the statement said.

Zelensky thanked the Philippines for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as for its clear position on Russian aggression against our country, as well as for supporting important UN resolutions.

The president also announced the opening of the Ukrainian embassy in the capital of the Philippines, Manili.

The leaders of both countries discussed the inaugural Global Peace Summit, scheduled for June 15-16 in Switzerland, and the importance of representing Southeast Asian countries there.

Let us recall that on June 1, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky arrived in Singapore for the Shangri-La Dialogue conference. He called the event “a key platform for security topics in the Asia-Pacific region.”
