In Portugal, during an air show at an air force base, two planes collided mid-air. One of the planes exploded and crashed, killing its Spanish pilot. It was reported by Reuters.
The tragedy occurred on June 2 at the Beja airbase, 180 km south of Lisbon. The collision occurred during group aerobatic demonstrations involving Spanish and Portuguese pilots.
The Portuguese Air Force noted that the crash occurred with aircraft from the YAK STARS aerobatic patrol.
One of the pilots, a Spanish national, died and the other was injured. After the plane crash, the Air Force decided to cancel the biggest air festival in Portugal.
