Ukrainian refugees will be paid for bus tickets, and the sick will be transported in an ambulance.
Refugees from Ukraine who received temporary protection status in the Czech Republic and want to return to their homeland now have the opportunity to take advantage of state aid. It was reported by Radio Prague International.
The Czech Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched a pilot project for voluntary return, thanks to which refugees will be paid for bus tickets, and the sick will be taken in an ambulance. The project will last from June to November.
The Czech Republic is ready to pay for tickets for 400 people, as well as organize ambulance transportation for a maximum of 30 patients.
The voluntary return project was approved by the government in mid-May. 5.5 million crowns have been allocated for the program. Refugees can take advantage of the paid voluntary return option only once.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in April there were approximately 339 thousand Ukrainians living in the Czech Republic who fled their homeland due to the full-scale invasion of Russia. Of these, only 20 thousand will get a long-term residence permit instead of temporary protection.
Let’s remember that according to surveys, the majority of Ukrainian refugees in Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic (66%) are completely satisfied or more satisfied than not with their current living conditions in the new country. At best, half will go home.
Strangers among strangers: almost half of refugees can return home
