Every year, hundreds of people, including children, drown during summer vacations in Ukraine. Most cases occur in areas without recreational facilities.
In the Khmelnytsky region, in the village of Sutkovtsy, two teenagers drowned while swimming in a local lake. The press service of the State Emergency Service reported this on Sunday, June 2.
An 11-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy were reported to have died in the water.
Rescuers reported that at 14.05 they received a message from police officers that in the village of Sutkivtsi, Khmelnitsky district, teenagers probably drowned in a local reservoir.
“Even before the emergency services arrived, doctors removed the body of a boy born in 2010 from the water and started resuscitation measures, which, unfortunately, did not bring results ,” the message said.
In addition, divers from the State Emergency Service of Khmelnytskyi were brought to the scene to search for another teenager.
“They checked the water area of the pond and brought to the surface the body of a girl born in 2013,” the department reported.
Psychologists worked with relatives of the victims at the scene of the incident.
In the Obukhovsky district of the Kiev region, a 12-year-old boy drowned in a lake.
Earlier it was reported that in the Zhytomyr region a pregnant woman fell through the ice.
