Andrei Smirnov will be released on bail of 10 million hryvnias. At the same time, he is forbidden to leave Kyiv and communicate with witnesses in the case.
The former deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andrey Smirnov, was given a preventive measure in the amount of 10 million hryvnia bail. The corresponding decision was made on Tuesday, May 28, by the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC), reports the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
“On May 28, 2024, the investigating judge VAKS supported the position of the SAPO prosecutor and applied a preventive measure in the form of 10 million hryvnia bail to the former deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, suspected of illegal enrichment of 15.7 million hryvnia,” the report said.
Smirnov was also entrusted with the following procedural duties:

respond to every request from the detective, prosecutor and court;

do not leave the city of Kyiv without the permission of the detective, prosecutor and court;

inform the detective, prosecutor and court about changes in your place of residence and place of work;

avoid talking to witnesses in the case;

deposit with the relevant government authority your passport/passport for travel abroad, other documents giving the right to leave Ukraine and enter Ukraine.

It is noted that the bail must be paid no later than five days from the date of election of the preventive measure.
The duration of the duties assigned to the suspect is until July 28, 2024.
As reported, last week Smirnov was charged with illegal enrichment worth 15.7 million hryvnias. The investigation found that in the period from 2020 to 2022, the former official acquired assets worth 17.1 million hryvnias. At the same time, he has savings and official income for this period in the amount of more than 1.3 million Hryvnia.
Let’s recall that on March 29 of this year, President Vladimir Zelensky removed Andrei Smirnov from the position of deputy head of the Presidential Office. He worked in this position since September 10, 2019, when Andrei Bogdan was still the head of OP. Smirnov worked on issues of legal policy, law enforcement and judicial systems.
