5G is still being tested, but the Ministry of Digital Development hopes to scale the technology soon.
In Ukraine, 5G technology was launched in test mode for the first time. This was announced on Monday, May 27, by the Minister of Digital Transformation, Mikhail Fedorov.
He noted that the Prompribor innovation center in Ivano-Frankovsk, the Vodafone office in Kyiv, and the Nokia office in Helsinki made calls using 5G and checked the quality of communication.
“Everything works,” Fedorov said.
He added that 5G is now operational in more than 90 countries around the world. In particular, the European Union plans to cover all cities and major routes with 5G by 2025.
According to Fedorov, Ukraine must develop innovations and reach the world, even in spite of a full-scale war.
The minister added that he hopes that Ukraine will soon increase the technology.
It was earlier reported that Starlink has launched satellites capable of connecting to phones.
