The European Union has imposed sanctions against former Ukrainian MP Viktor Medvedchuk and the Voice of Europe publication he controls.

    .

The corresponding proposal was made by the Czech Republic, which chairs the EU and has previously introduced such sanctions “single-handedly.”

Also subject to sanctions was the former general producer of the 112 Ukraine TV channel, Artem Marchevsky, who heads the propaganda network of influence, to which Voice of Europe belongs.

At the beginning of May, it became known that Marchevsky received temporary protection status in Slovakia. He fled there from Prague after the Czech Republic imposed sanctions against him and blocked his assets and money in bank accounts.

On the eve of the elections to the European Parliament, Czech counterintelligence exposed a pro-Russian network of influence on European deputies in Prague, behind which was the former people’s deputy of Ukraine, pro-Russian oligarch Viktor Medvedchuk. The Security Service of Ukraine helped in the exposure.

As RBC-Ukraine reported, citing its own sources, the pro-Russian network paid politicians money to praise Russia, as well as Putin in the European media. Deputies must also publish anti-Ukrainian and anti-European materials on the Voice of Europe website. This was supposed to help bring as many pro-Russian politicians as possible into the European Parliament.

The Voice of Europe website was launched by Medvedchuk and former general producer of the 112 Ukraine TV channel Artem Marchevsky.
