In the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the former major general acquired Russian citizenship, and therefore the pre-trial investigation against him was conducted with the permission of the investigator using a special (in absentia) method.

The DBI has completed a pre-trial investigation of the ex-deputy chairman of the SBU – head of the Anti-Terrorism Center in the case of desertion, disobedience in a combat situation and loss of a secret document. The press service of the State Bureau of Investigation and Office of the Prosecutor General reported this on Friday, May 24.

It is indicated that on February 23, 2014, the former law enforcement officer arbitrarily traveled to the territory of Crimea to avoid military service and avoid criminal responsibility for crimes against participants in mass protests in Kyiv and high treason during the Revolution of Dignity.

The general “took” a workbook marked “Top Secret” with a summary of the orders of the head of the SBU and the decisions of the SBU Board.

Before leaving, the general went to the central hospital of the SBU, “trying to create the appearance of his illness and the need for treatment.”

He remained on the territory of the peninsula and did not obey the order of his immediate superior – the Chairman of the SBU – to return to the place of military service – the Central Directorate of the SBU.

“He did not begin to fulfill his duties as the head of the Anti-Terrorism Center in the SBU – to coordinate the counteraction to terrorist and separatist manifestations on the peninsula. The desertion and disobedience of the serviceman he did in the events of the battle. during the introduction of Russian occupation troops and military equipment into the territory,” the message said.

DBR noted that in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, the former major general obtained Russian citizenship.

He was charged with desertion, disobedience and loss of a document containing state secrets (part 3 of article 408, part 3 of article 402, part 1 of article 329 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Currently, the accused is hiding in the territory of the aggressor state.

In Odessa, the Security Service detained a Russian FSB agent who had been spying on air defense positions near the Black Sea.
