The minister’s bladder problem was unrelated to his cancer diagnosis and did not affect his prognosis for the disease.
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will undergo a planned non-surgical procedure related to a bladder problem. The Pentagon press service reported this on Friday, May 24.
The department said Austin will have a scheduled, elective and “minimally invasive follow-up non-surgical procedure” at the hospital.
According to the report, the head of the Pentagon will be hospitalized at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
While Austin is in the hospital, his deputy, Kathleen Gicks, will temporarily serve as US Secretary of Defense.
The Pentagon added that the White House and Congress have been informed about the current hospitalization of the head of the Ministry of Defense.
Let’s remember that earlier in December 2023, the head of the Pentagon was diagnosed with prostate cancer. On January 1, Lloyd Austin was admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center due to complications from a routine medical procedure.
Later on February 12, Lloyd Austin was hospitalized again due to bladder problems.
Earlier, the media reported that the head of the Pentagon led the strikes in Yemen from his hospital bed.
