The city of São Paulo will include Nerd Pride Day in the official calendar, and the schedule is full of activities for pop culture fans!
On May 25th, the Nerd Pride Day, whose objective is to recognize and value diversity within geek culture. The date also coincides with the release of some stories that encompass the genre, such as the film ‘Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope’, which premiered in 1977.
With the date approaching, the Government of the State of São Paulo will make the Biennial Pavilion in Ibirapuera Park to host a free event in honor of the day. The celebration will take place from 10am to 10pm, and will include a cosplay parade, anime screenings and special shows. Furthermore, for those who are fans of games, the event will also provide spaces focused on Pokémon GO and PlayStation.
Along with the interactive activities, a moment of memories of the iconic series Chaves was prepared, and will feature the presence of the Brazilian voice actors for the characters Seu Madruga and Chiquinha, who played father and daughter in the story.
According to the Secretary of Culture Marília Martonthe day “will be dedicated to celebrating and encouraging creativity, imagination and the passion for exploring new worlds and ideas in all their forms”.
