Antony Blinken said the “review of bilateral cooperation between the United States and Georgia” has now begun.
The United States is introducing a new policy to impose visa restrictions on Georgia through the Foreign Agents Act. United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken said this.
“Today I am also starting a comprehensive review of bilateral cooperation between the United States and Georgia,” the official said.
When reviewing relations between the two countries, “Washington will take Georgia’s actions into account when making its own decisions.”
“As Georgian citizens speak out against this law, we see clear signs of a campaign of intimidation and violence to suppress peaceful dissent both of the “national security law” and the repressive tactics that used to suppress legitimate dissent undermines Georgia’s democracy and “fundamental. The freedoms to which the Georgian people are entitled are inconsistent with Georgia’s long-expressed goals – as reflected in the constitution of this – of Euro-Atlantic integration and a strategic partnership with the United States,” said Blinken.
Let’s recall that on May 14, the Georgian parliament finally adopted a bill on the transparency of foreign influence, which led to mass protests.
Part of the opposition in the Georgian parliament announced the transition to boycott mode after the adoption of the law on “foreign agents”.
