The agent of the Russians is a prisoner from a local correctional colony, who is about to be released.
Counterintelligence of the Security Service thwarted the FSB’s attempt to build its own intelligence network in the Kharkov region. The attackers must manage the breakthrough of Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups to capture strategic objects in the region. The SBU reported this on May 23.
It was mentioned that a prisoner from a local correctional colony, who was about to be released, had become an agent of the Russians.
At the direction of the FSB, the defendant recruited other convicts whose sentences had also expired. After leaving the prison, they had to disperse to Kharkov and the border villages of the region and establish geolocations of Ukrainian checkpoints and fortified areas.
The Russians also expect to receive from their agents the exact coordinates of key life support facilities with a current report on their security system.
The invaders needed intelligence data to prepare sabotage attacks on the front-line areas of the region, bypassing the defense lines of Ukrainian troops.
It was learned that the prisoner was recruited by the FSB while he was serving a sentence in the temporarily occupied part of the territory of the Luhansk region in 2012. Before the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he was transferred to a correctional colony in the region of Kharkov as a resident of the controlled territory of Ukraine.
Before the “transportation,” the defendant received instructions from the Russian special services on conducting reconnaissance and subversive activities. While still in prison, he had to form his own intelligence group, and after his release, he had to communicate remotely with his FSB supervisor to clarify tasks and deadlines for their completion.
The Russian agent was told of the suspicion of treason.
We remind you that the Security Service detained a Russian informant who was preparing to seize Volchansk.
It was previously reported that an FSB agent was detained in Odessa for spying on air defense positions near the Black Sea.
