The Russian invaders could not achieve strategic goals in the direction of Kharkov, but they could try to advance in the Sumy region. The representative of the State Border Service of Ukraine Andrey Demchenko spoke about this on Wednesday, May 22, at a telethon.
According to him, Russia is trying to expand the front line to stretch the Ukrainian troops.
“We cannot underestimate the enemy. Yes, the invaders will not achieve strategic goals in the direction of Kharkov, however, these actions force the Ukrainian troops to increase their forces, because the zones where powerful military operations are expanding,” he said. .
Demchenko suggested that, due to the dispersion of Ukrainian troops, the Russians would try to invade the Sumy region. At the same time, he believed that now the invaders did not have the strength to reach the regional center.
“Any action that the enemy tries to carry out even despite the lack of a sufficient number of its forces and equipment will force Ukraine to pull the necessary forces and means there, instead of using them, for example, at the front line, where more active combat operations take place Therefore, the cunning of the enemy We understand well,” said Demchenko.
According to him, the Defense Forces are ready for any situation in this direction.
“The border guards have held their defense line and will be able to counter the enemy if he tries to advance into the Sumy region,” he stressed.
At the same time, as Demchenko said, the Russians continued to shell both the Sumy and Chernigov regions with artillery and tanks.
We remind you that the Sumy region was left without electricity supply due to a night attack by the Russian invaders.
