The Ukrainian Defense Minister called on the Spanish government and companies to invest in the Ukrainian defense industry.
The new aid package from Spain for Ukraine includes not only a batch of Leopard tanks and Patriot air defense missiles, but also other weapons. The head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, announced this on May 22.
He indicated that he spoke with Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles and thanked her for her country’s decision to give us the next batch of Leopard tanks.
“The new aid package from Spain, in particular, includes: missiles for the Patriot air defense system, 155 mm artillery shells, anti-drone systems and other weapons,” the minister said.
During the conversation, he emphasized that to be more effective in dealing with the enemy, we need more air defense systems.
“This will allow the defenders of Ukraine to counter the aircraft and guided bombs with which the Russians are destroying our cities and villages,” Umerov wrote.
As previously reported, Spain approved the supply of 19 Leopard 2 A4 tanks to Ukraine. It will be carried out in two batches: 10 battle tanks at the end of June and nine more in September.
Last July, Spain sent four Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine.
