Giving Patriot is not an easy process; this is associated with a number of logistical and legal problems.
The provision of the Romanian Patriot system in Ukraine must be authorized by the Supreme Council of National Defense. At the same time, this should not lead to the weakening of the air defense of the country itself. This was said by the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, Digi24 wrote.
The head of state noted that he did not want to discuss the issue of the possible transfer of the Patriot system to Ukraine “in the public space” and would rather have it decided by military specialists and the Supreme Council of National Defense.
Iohannis also said that the transfer of the Patriot is a complex process related to a number of logistical and legal problems, “needless to say, I do not agree to any opportunity to leave Romania without missile and air defense .”
“We must proceed from the fact that if Romania ultimately gives something, it must receive something else in return otherwise things will not work,” added the Romanian president.
We remind you that Romania is preparing a new military aid package for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Ukraine and Romania also agreed to speed up joint work on a bilateral security agreement.
It was previously reported that Greece is ready to transfer the Patriot system to Ukraine under certain conditions.
