In addition, the Ukrainian Navy reported that during the attack on Sevastopol, the Project 266-M minesweeper Kovrovets was destroyed. Russian authorities have not commented on the statements of the Ukrainian military.

Construction of the Cyclone began in the temporarily occupied Kerch in 2016, and was launched in 2020. This ship entered service with the Russian army in 2023. The Cyclone has or already has 8 launch silos for Caliber cruise missiles and supersonic Onyx missiles.

Cyclone became the first ship of project 22800 Karakurt of the Russian Federation in the Black Sea and the fourth ship of this project in all fleets of the Russian Federation.
