Ukraine will receive a new military aid package through the contribution of the Spanish defense industry.
Spain is preparing a new military aid package to Ukraine. Among other things, it will contain the second batch of Leopard tanks, as well as missiles for the Patriot complex. The Minister of Defense of Spain, Margarita Robles, spoke about this on Monday, May 20, at the 22nd meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine in the Ramstein format.
The country plans to transfer 155-mm artillery ammunition, optical-electronic surveillance and tracking systems, as well as turrets for long-range fire.
According to the Spanish Ministry of Defense, the delivery should take place at the end of June.
Robles, who took part in the Ramstein meeting remotely, insisted that Spain’s support for Ukraine in the long term will be strengthened by the future signing of a bilateral security agreement.
As previously reported, Spain approved the supply of 19 Leopard 2 A4 tanks to Ukraine. It will be carried out in two batches: 10 battle tanks at the end of June and nine more in September.
In July, Spain sent four Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine.
