Ukraine clearly understands that the current war with Russia will end with negotiations, so it has prepared and is promoting the Peace Formula. The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Alexander Litvinenko said this in a speech to the participants of the 2024 NATO Baltic Sea Region and Arctic Europe Forum on Monday, May 20.
“Ukraine clearly knows that the war will end with negotiations and that is why President Zelensky’s Peace Formula has been prepared and promoted,” he said.
Litvinenko stressed that Ukraine’s position is very simple, “I am convinced that the participants of the Peace Summit in Switzerland in June 2024 will support it.”
According to him, the upcoming summit is “a real diplomatic path with every opportunity to help achieve a just world.”
Alexander Litvinenko stressed that our country does not need a truce for two years, but a stable peace for decades, “which will allow the development of Ukraine.”
He noted that an important step towards achieving a just world is the signing of security agreements implementing the G7 statement last year.
At the same time, the Secretary of the NSDC expressed hope that at the current Washington NATO summit, Ukraine will receive an invitation to the Alliance.
“We realize that the accession will not take place tomorrow, but the invitation will cool down many hot-headed people in the Russian Federation who, in contact with Putin, clear certainty stabilizes the situation, and its absence encourages to Russia to take aggressive steps,” the NSDC Secretary lamented.
We remind you that the Peace Summit will be held on June 15-16 in Switzerland. Ukraine hopes for the participation of 80-100 countries in this event.
The Office of the President believes that there is no talk of Russia’s participation in the first Peace Summit, but there is a possibility that its representatives will be at the second summit.
