The prosecutor’s statement said Netanyahu and Galant are criminally responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in the Gaza Strip since at least October 8, 2023.
According to the prosecutor, Israeli leaders are responsible for famine, intentional infliction of great suffering, murder, attacks against civilians, extermination, persecution and other inhumane acts.
In turn, the ISS prosecutor said in a statement, the investigation has reason to believe that three Hamas leaders are criminally responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Israel and the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.
Charges brought against Hamas leaders include extermination, murder, hostage-taking, sexualized violence, torture, and ill-treatment of prisoners. All three Hamas leaders, the prosecutor said, were responsible for the killing of hundreds of Israeli citizens in attacks carried out by the group’s terrorists on October 7, 2023.
The prosecutor’s request must be considered by the ISS judges.
Israel does not recognize the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court. While Palestine is part of the ISS (there are a total of 124 countries that signed the Rome Charter).
Hamas terrorists attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200 people and taking about 250 hostage. Following the attack, IDF forces began military operations in the Gaza Strip.
