The prosecutor is requesting two preventive measures for the suspect: a written promise not to leave the area and detention.
The prosecutor’s office’s request for a preventive measure for the man who tried to kill Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico will be considered by the Specialized Criminal Court of Slovakia on Saturday, May 18. This was announced by the court’s spokesperson Katarina Kudyakova in a comment to local news agency TASR on Friday, May 17.
According to him, the prosecutor’s office is asking in the sent petition to take the shooter into custody.
“The prosecutor believes that the accused may escape and assumes that there is a risk that he will continue to commit criminal activities, therefore the prosecutor requests that both a written promise not to leave the area and detention in custody be selected as measures in avoidance,” noted the court representative.
As you know, on May 15, an assassination attempt on Robert Fico in the city of Gandlova, located 150 kilometers from Bratislava.
The attacker was detained at the scene. He turned out to be Juraj Tsintula, 71 years old. The man was motivated by political motives.
