Many people were injured, one of them in serious condition. A few hours later, the police arrested the man.
In the Swiss city of Zoffingen, a knife-wielding man attacked passers-by and injured several people. The attacker was detained, the Neue Zürcher Zeitung reported on the evening of Wednesday, May 15.
It was learned that the attacker left the train station in Zofingen shortly after 16.00 and headed west towards the nearby village of Strievelbach. On the way, he attacked passers-by.
When the police arrived at the scene, the man fled into the building. Law enforcement officers cordoned it off and were able to detain the attacker more than two hours later.
Police believe the attacker used a “sharp weapon,” likely a knife. As a result of his actions, many people were injured, one of them was in serious condition.
Law enforcement officials are advising to avoid Zofingen, as it is not known whether the attacker acted independently or as part of a group. They also opened a hotline to ask for more information or possibly become a victim.
It was previously reported that in France, a knife-wielding man attacked children near a school.
