The new reactor, with an expected capacity of 1,200 megawatts, will be built at the Jaslovske Bohunice nuclear power plant.
The Slovak government approved on May 15 a plan to build another nuclear reactor in the country. Associated Press reports.
It was noted that the new reactor with an expected capacity of 1,200 megawatts will be built at the Jaslovske Bohunice nuclear power plant, where Slovenske Elektrarne operates two nuclear power units.
The government said the finance and economy ministers would work out the details by the end of October.
According to Economy Minister Denisa Sakova, the Russian energy giant Rosatom will not be allowed to participate in a possible tender for the construction of the block.
Slovakia produces more than 50% of its electricity from two nuclear power plants.
Earlier, the media wrote that France intends to build at least 14 new nuclear reactors.
Let’s remember that China launched a “fourth generation” nuclear reactor. The 200-megawatt China Huaneng power unit is the world’s first high-temperature gas-cooled reactor.
