From 19:25 to 22:00, controlled emergency shutdowns were introduced for industrial and household consumers in all regions of Ukraine. And from 00.00 and May 16, planned restrictions will apply throughout the state for the population and business – electricity will be turned off hourly. Ukrenergo announced this on Facebook on May 15.
Energy experts say this will help make controlled outages more predictable for consumers and the operation of the power grid safer. It is noted that regional energy companies have already increased consumption limits for each region. You can find out the shutdown schedules on the oblenergo websites.
The reason for the restrictions at Ukrenergo is said to be an increase in electricity consumption during cold weather. They note that the capacity of Ukrainian power plants is not enough due to Russian attacks.
Let us remind you that the Ukrainian government stated that the increase in electricity prices for the population in Ukraine in 2023 had a positive effect on the energy system, as this made it possible to balance the energy system and carry out the necessary repairs. Officials noted that all this made it possible to safely complete the heating season.
