Prime Minister Fico was injured in the town of Gandlova after a government meeting. This was reported by Denník N on Wednesday, May 15.
It was indicated that several shots were heard in front of the local Palace of Culture when Fico came out to the crowd.
According to witnesses at the scene, Fico approached the people who were congratulating him, then fired several shots. Fico then fell to the ground, the report said.
The guards quickly picked up the Prime Minister, put him in a car and drove him away.
The possible attacker was detained by the police in the area. Security guarded the safety of other members of the government.
