The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, is sure that EU leaders will grant the status of a candidate for joining the bloc in Ukraine and Moldova. The politician said this when it came to the summit in Brussels, reports European Truth.
“This is a decisive moment for the European Union. It is a geopolitical choice that we will make today. I am confident that we will give the candidate status to Ukraine and Moldova, as well as a clear vision of Europe in Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, “Michel said.
Recall that on June 17, the European Commission published a conclusion in which it recommended to recognize the European perspective of Ukraine and give it the status of a candidate for EU membership.
At the same time, the EU noted that formal negotiations with candidates will begin after they fulfill the list of conditions specified in the EC’s conclusions regarding applications for membership.
