Congressman Adam Kinzinger said he introduced a bill that would allow the United States to train Ukrainian pilots on F-15 and F-16 combat aircraft.
Republican Kinzinger and US Air Force veteran Democratic Congressman Chrissy Hulahan presented a bill to train Ukrainian fighter pilots on American warplanes.
Kinzinger on Twitter published a joint photo with pilots of the Air Force of Ukraine:
He explained that his bill would allow the United States to begin training Ukrainian pilots and technicians on the F-15, F-16 and other airborne platforms while the US continues to consider sending such weapons to Ukraine.
It is important for the Ukrainian military to be trained and familiar with these aerial platforms if Russia continues its war against Ukraine.
As veterans of the Air Force, we know that one of the first steps in any conflict is to establish air supremacy. Judging by public information, neither the Ukrainians nor the Russians have established an advantage in the air. We believe the United States and our NATO allies can help Ukraine make a difference in the air and give Ukrainian forces a decisive advantage in the war, the congressman said in a letter.
