The defendants were detained in the Odessa region as part of a joint special operation by the Office of the Prosecutor General, the National Police and law enforcement agencies of the Czech Republic.
Six citizens of foreign countries have been extradited to the Czech Republic to further prosecute them in the case of an international fraudulent call center. The issue of extraditing another person has now been decided. The Office of the Prosecutor General announced this on May 14.
It was noted that the defendants were detained in the Odessa region as part of a joint special operation of the Office of the Prosecutor General, the National Police of Ukraine and law enforcement agencies of the Czech Republic.
The investigation established that since September 2022, a group of individuals, which included citizens of Ukraine and foreigners, organized and ensured the activities of a large-scale international call center in Odessa.
Scammers call citizens of the Czech Republic and introduce themselves as technical support of the Czech People’s Bank. They convince the fraudulent victims of the need to protect the supposedly compromised account and transfer them to another bank account to save the funds. These bills were prepared in advance by the offenders.
It has now been established that victims of fraudulent call centers have suffered damages totaling more than UAH 5.5 million fraud cases worth more than CZK 20 million have been recorded in the Czech Republic.
Based on these facts, criminal proceedings were initiated by the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine and the Czech Republic.
It was previously reported about the liquidation of the activities of a large-scale international fraudulent call center in Odessa.
We remind you that suspicion has been reported to four people who fraudulently stole almost 1.5 million UAH from the cards of foreign citizens.
