Estonia has a desire to send its military personnel to Ukraine as part of NATO’s overall mission.
The Estonian government is considering sending troops to Ukraine so that the Estonian military can take over logistics work in western Ukraine. Madis Roll, National Security Adviser to the President of Estonia, said this on Monday, May 13, in an interview with Breaking Defense.
According to him, Estonia seeks to take such a step within the framework of the NATO mission, however, it is possible that the deployment of troops will take place within the framework of a smaller coalition.
“Discussions are ongoing. We must consider all possibilities. We must not limit our minds about what we can do,” said the adviser to the Estonian president.
He also emphasized that it is “not excluded” that NATO countries opposed to such a move will change their minds “over time.”
We remind you that French President Emmanuel Macron was the first to speak about the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine. The other day, he said he considered Russia’s nervous reaction to his remarks about the possible deployment of Western troops to Ukraine as evidence that this idea was working.
Estonia will transfer funds to Ukraine to strengthen its own cyberspace within the framework of the IT coalition. This was learned during a meeting between the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Ekaterina Chernogorenko and the Deputy Commander of the Cyber Command of the Estonian Defense Forces Mihkel Tikk and the head of the cyber policy department and coordinator of the IT coalition from the Estonian Ministry of Defense Laura Oolup in Kyiv.
