Russian troops will continue to try to advance, especially in the Kharkov region, according to Washington.
The Russian invaders will continue to try to penetrate deep into the territory of Ukraine, but they are unlikely to make a breakthrough on the front line. This is what Deputy Representative of the US State Department Vedant Patel said in a briefing on Monday, May 13.
“Russia continues to intensify its aggression, and we expect that the Russian Federation will try to advance, including towards Kharkov,” Patel said.
Patel suggested that the Russians would try to make more progress in the coming weeks, but that there would be no large-scale advance of attack forces.
“We do not expect major successes, and over time, additional assistance from the United States, as well as additional support from partners, will allow Ukraine to continue to fight this aggression,” said State Department spokesman.
In addition, he is convinced that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will retain the main advantages in battles and cause huge losses to the enemy.
Let’s recall that on May 10, the Russians launched an offensive in the north of the Kharkov region. They captured some villages in the “gray zone”. Now there are battles for the border town of Volchansk.
President Vladimir Zelensky announced the strengthening of the Defense Forces in the Volchansk region of the Kharkov region and other borders.
