In total, more than 4 thousand people have already been evacuated from settlements in the Kharkov region, where hostilities have intensified, said Oleg Sinegubov, head of the OVA.
Ukrainian intelligence “knew about the plans of the Russian occupiers to attack in the Kharkov region,” the Main Intelligence Directorate stated.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky said that fighting is currently ongoing in the areas bordering the Russian Federation. He called the situation difficult.
Meanwhile, the commander of the reconnaissance unit of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Denis Yaroslavsky, was outraged by the lack of fortifications on the border.
On the Ukrainian border there should have been concrete fortifications minus three stories high, but there weren’t even mines,” Yaroslavsky wrote.
Volchansk… difficult. Today, strike aerial reconnaissance of the 1st SB 57th Brigade stopped the advance of Storm Z, the brigade artillery worked perfectly and finished off Company Z along with their fire support equipment. But the enemy is collecting reserves. Street fighting began and the city was surrounded. I say this because we may die, and no one will hear the truth. Why then everything? – the message says.
Yaroslavsky says that on this section of the front there was no first line of fortifications and mines. Therefore, the enemy freely entered the gray zone along the entire border line, which in principle should not have been gray.
Police officers and volunteers are helping people leave Volchansk. Despite the difficult situation, local residents do not forget about animals. Radio Liberty journalist Marjan Kushnir says that people are also coming because of the possible re-occupation of the city – no one wants to find themselves under the Muscovites again.
