Russia’s Ambassador to Mozambique, Alexander Surikov, died at the age of 69. The Russian Foreign Ministry announced this on Sunday, May 12.
“Russian Ambassador to Mozambique Surikov died suddenly in Maputo,” said Sergei Lavrov’s department.
The Russian Foreign Ministry clarified that the initial version of the cause of Surikov’s death was a stroke.
Alexander Surikov has headed the Russian diplomatic mission in Mozambique since 2017.
We remind you that in April the Ukrainian embassy was opened in Mozambique. The event was attended by government representatives, businesses, the Mozambican public, the Ukrainian diaspora, members of the diplomatic corps recognized in Maputo and journalists.
Also in recent months, Ukraine opened embassies in Congo and Ivory Coast.
