This complex can destroy drones by using directed energy in the microwave range, which allows it to “burn” electronic components at a great distance.
The UK Armed Forces have begun testing an anti-drone system based on the Ealing project. The new system is a mobile complex of electromagnetic weapons, writes Defense Express.
It is reported that this complex can destroy drones by using direct energy in the microwave range, which allows it to “burn” electronic components at a great distance.
An example of such a system was seen in a service training area with the 7th Air Defense Group of the British Army, which, obviously, had to test it.
The publication writes that the complex, installed on the HX60 chassis, contains drone detection equipment and an electromagnetic pulse generator. The exact characteristics remain unknown.
The British Ministry of Defense did not comment on these tests.
“On the part of Defense Expess, we noticed that such systems are one of the main competitors of complexes with combat lasers and the most famous example is Leonidas from the American company Epirus, which is now actively being tested by the military strength of the US,” the publication said.
It is reported that, perhaps, such complexes can be a solution to the problem of combating swarms of drones, and can also destroy all drones in a specific sector and do not require focusing on just one target.
Project EALING revealed: the Radiofrequency “cannon” in development for the British Armed Forces seen with 7 Air Defense Group on Thorney Island. Significantly different from the first concept art, it is shown being carried on a smaller HX60 truck instead of an HX77 and it appears to be demountable. pic.twitter.com/C8HRsL0x89

It should also be noted that in the British armed forces this system is one of the alternatives to the DragonFire combat laser, which London is ready to send to Ukraine at the prototype stage for the purpose of testing in real combat conditions. And it is possible that if Britain provides a laser complex, then an electromagnetic one will also be transferred behind it, which will make it possible to conduct tests comparing the correspondence of both systems in real combat conditions, “the statement being emphasized.
Earlier it was reported that the UK and Ukraine had started negotiations on a 100-year partnership.
