The Czech investigative team considers the officers of the Averyanov unit to be the organizers of the warehouse explosions in the village of Vrbetice in 2014.
Czech police have put GRU General Andrei Averyanov on the wanted list, who is suspected of being involved in the explosion of ammunition depots in Vrbetice. Radio Prague International reported this on Friday, May 10.
It is reported that the Czech investigative team considers Anatoly Chepiga and Alexander Mishkin, officers of Averyanov’s unit, as the organizers of the warehouse explosions in the village of Vrbetice in 2014. As a result of the explosions, two people died.
British investigators suspect Averyanov’s subordinates of poisoning former Russian secret agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury in 2018.
According to the Czech website Seznam Zprávy, Elena and Nikolai Shaposhnikov, Russian spies who received Czech citizenship, contacted Averyanov. Shaposhnikov was an employee of the arms company Imex Group, whose bullets exploded in Vrbetice. According to the police, the Shaposhnikovs provided Russian intelligence with information about the company’s activities and gave documents to GRU agents to visit the warehouse.
Police believe it has been proven that the sabotage was carried out by Russian military intelligence officers to prevent the delivery of ammunition to regions where Russia is conducting military operations.
Because the suspects were in Russia, who refused to cooperate with the Czech police, criminal investigators were unable to prosecute them. To investigate the explosions, the Czech side created a joint investigation team with the British police.
Let’s recall that last year it was reported that Averyanov may be involved in the death of Wagner PMC founder Evgeniy Prigozhin.
