Many Ukrainian citizens now live in Poland, officially work and pay taxes to the budget.
Before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, between 1.5 and 2 million Ukrainians lived in Poland; However, today the number of refugees from Ukraine has decreased to 950 thousand. Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Zvarych spoke about this on Friday, May 10, Ukrinform reports.
He noted that many Ukrainian citizens live in Poland, work and pay taxes.
“The presence of Ukrainians in the Polish market is a plus of 1% to Poland’s GDP. This is a huge amount of money,” Zvarich emphasized.
He added that over the past two years, Ukrainians have registered more than 30 thousand small and medium-sized businesses in Poland.
Zvarych emphasized that Poland is preparing to extend the temporary protection status for Ukrainians until September 30, 2025, providing appropriate financial assistance. At the same time, the authorities will strengthen control over Ukrainians who abuse such aid.
We remind you that Poland will extend temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees. In particular, this also applies to Ukrainians who do not have a passport.
Sweden will improve conditions for refugees from Ukraine
