Ukraine has an important “strategic hub” in Poland for receiving military, medical, and humanitarian aid.
Since the start of the Russian invasion, Poland has provided nearly $4 billion in military aid to Ukraine. Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Zvarych spoke about this on Friday, May 10, in an interview with Ukrinform.
“To date, Poland has provided almost $4 billion in military aid and it is very important that this work continues,” the diplomat said.
He noted that Poland has become an important “strategic hub” for Ukraine, and not only in terms of military support. He noted that many victims of the Russian attack were brought to the West for treatment through Poland.
Warsaw also plays a major role in supporting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
“Polish authorities, in cooperation with the European Commission, have created the so-called energy hub for assistance to Ukraine – RescEU, where a lot of assistance is provided, which is now urgently needed in the context of intensified attacks from Russian Federation on Ukrainian critical infrastructure,” said the diplomat.
He added that Polish local authorities and organizations of the non-governmental sector provide diverse humanitarian aid to Ukraine and emphasized that “all this happens almost every day.”
Polish border guards detained a 41-year-old Russian who illegally entered Poland from Belarus. Military documents were found on him: a contract with the Russian army on participation in military operations against Ukraine.
